Luxurious Master Bathroom

Image
I think we all long for a place to wind down and take a breather at the end of the day.  A long, hot bubble bath in a large jacuzzi tub is a dream right?  I immediately started thinking of a luxurious master bathroom when I saw this faucet from Decor Planet .   In my opinion a master bathroom should have cool, calming colors.  I mixed blue and gray in this space which I think look great with the dark vanity.  I love the countertop to ceiling wall tile with separate mirror.   Sources faucet : I love the modern lines of this faucet but it also throws a few curves bath light : simple lines but still sleek vanity : modern and dark with plenty of storage underneath shower curtain : a bold pattern bath towel : classic white wall tile : countertop to ceiling mirror : floating on top of the tiled wall light gray walls : nice neutral backdrop, Behr Silver Sateen art : pop of color vase : more color *This is a sponsored post but the views and opinions expressed ar

Look A Likes: Desks

It seems like I've been on a constant search for furniture lately.  Why am I looking at desks you ask?  Don't you have one for your office already?  You'll find out soon enough.  Anyway, I saw one at Restoration Hardware that is gorgeous!  I've been digging the industrial look.  Now we all know I do things on a budget so the $695 price was no where near my budget.  I found a similar one at Target.  It's $100.  The Target version is a little shorter in length, but a great affordable alternative. GE Lighting Home Makeover Giveaway

Image
A while back I was given the opportunity to try some GE Reveal light bulbs .  I love the white light they cast off instead of the usual yellow glow from incandescent bulbs.  It's amazing the impact that lighting makes in a room.  Just changing an ordinary bulb to a GE reveal bulb made a huge difference.  The colors are more vibrant and less muted than a room using a standard bulb.   Like me, many consumers have a hard time trying to decide which bulbs and lighting are right for their home.  Choosing the right bulb for each room can be easy if you remember these four steps: pick the right fit, choose the right brightness, select energy savings and lifetime of the bulb, plus the right color and effect.   GE has created three infographics along with some videos to help you along the way to a brighter home as you compare bulbs and consider the four steps.  Please visit the GE website for more information. DIY Fabric Trimmed Curtains

Image
This project has been on my list for a while and I can finally check it off.  We had plain white curtains from Ikea hanging in our master bedroom.  I loved the simpleness of them but I wanted to jazz them up a bit. I went back and forth between trimming the curtains down the sides or adding fabric on the bottom like I did in the nursery .  The trimmed idea won.  I started late Friday night.  I wasn't sure how much I would get done but at least I had gotten a start.  We have four windows in the room which means a total of eight panels to trim!  Was I crazy for wanting to do this to so many panels?  After figuring out the first one, I got on a roll and didn't want to stop.  I had gotten five panels done when I noticed it was 1:00 AM.  Time to turn in and start again in the morning. To trim the curtains, I picked up a twin bedsheet from Walmart.  It gave me a ton of fabric for a cheap price.  Instead of choosing a plain gray sheet, I chose one that had a pattern for mo

Friday Five

Hooray for the weekend!  This week seemed to drag by.  I'm always ready for the weekend.  Time to get things done around the house. 1) I was able to find a chandelier I liked for the master bedroom.  Hopefully we'll get a chance to hang it this weekend. source 2) I also plan to add a border to our master bedroom curtains.  I've had the fabric for weeks but haven't had the drive to get up and actually do it. 3) I've been on a new recipe kick this week.  We've been trying a lot of new dishes.  This one for Black Bean and Rice Stuffed Peppers was a hit with the family. 4) In my search to fill up a gallery wall in the master, I came across this site full of free printables . 5) West Elm is having a great sale through Monday.  Coffee and side tables are 20% off!  All clearance is an extra 15% off.  I love a good sale. Have a good weekend!   You're reading Friday Five by Andrea, originally posted on Dec

Model Home Inspiration

Image
I've told you about my love for model homes before.  You can get so much inspiration from touring a modeled home.  Some of the staging can be overdone but you can see concepts you may not have thought about doing before and incorporate them into your own home. I love this model home in Utah .  It's a traditional home but features so many great modern updates.  The front of the house is beautiful.  It's got a craftsman feel to it.  I love the stone exterior. Here's the entry.  Don't get me wrong, I like molding but I think they went a little overboard here.  Some color would have been nice. They've turned the living room into an office.  I see this a lot.  Many times the living room is a room that doesn't get used often so making it an office gets more use of the space.  I like the neutral walls with pops of color in the artwork. Check out the family room.  It is so open. You can see they extended the molding into this room

Finding Joss & Main Items at Other Retailers

Image
I have been on the search for items for our master bedroom makeover.  A lot of the searching has been online.  I am a member of Joss & Main .  It's an online retailer that features curated limited time sales on home decor.  Their sales usually only last 3 days so if you see something you like, you better buy it now.  Their items sell out fast.  I was looking through their lighting section and found this beauty.  It's a good price at $142.95. I loved the light but there's always the pressure of buying it now since the sales are limited time.  Sometimes I like to wait and see if there are other options.  So I wanted to see if it was available somewhere else and if I could find a better price.  Here's what I did to find it. Right click the image and click 'copy image location'. Now go to Google to search.  Click on 'images'.  Click the camera in the search box.  Paste your image URL and click 'search'. The li
