Hometalk Feature

Image
Some of you may have heard of Hometalk .  It's a website where homeowners and professionals alike can go and share their home adventures and ask for advice.  I've been on there for years and it's fun to see the projects that homeowners complete.  You can browse through hundreds of photos to get inspiration and tips and upload your own project.  You can even come here to connect with a professional in your area for that certain project you were thinking of starting. Hometalk asked me to curate a board of painted kitchen cabinets since my own kitchen post on Hometalk has been a success. Go on over and take a look at some of the amazing kitchen transformations.  These homeowners have taken their kitchens from plain to wowzers with just paint! Also, if you aren't following me on Hometalk , you should.   You're reading Hometalk Feature by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Faceboo

Weekend Sales

Image
One of the things I like to do on the weekends is go shopping.  Whether it be in store or online.  Here are a few sales going on this weekend. RUGS USA is having a major sale!  Up to 80% off all rugs.  They have such a huge selection.  You are very likely to find something you like.  I love this trellis one.  Would love it for the living room but I realize it looks so similar to the one in the family room.  Anything with a bold pattern grabs my eye. This one has a fun pattern and has the various blues and gray mixed in.   One of my favorite stores World Market is also having a sale.  The rugs, bedroom furniture, and accent tables and chairs are up to 50% off. How fun is this green and white striped rug ? I like this herringbone rug too. I love this gray side chair .  I'm sure I could find a place for it. The Photo Display Jewelry Holder is pretty cool.  Perfect for displaying photos but no one would know your necklaces are hanging behi

New Girl's Desk

Image
I guess it's time to show you the desk I picked out for my daughter.  I wanted something small and functional while still being cute and easy on the pockets. We ended up with this combination from Ikea .  It's the white Linnmon top with the silver Adils legs.  It's so simple and fits perfectly in the space in front of her window.  I didn't want to spend a ton of money on this piece because I knew there would be markers and pens involved on a white surface.  If the desk top gets ruined, I won't be upset because it was a small investment and the top can be changed out. We picked up this cute desk chair at Walmart .  Of course it's pink!  She wouldn't have it any other way.  The silver legs of the desk match the silver legs of the chair.  It just sorta happened that way.  I like that the desk is neutral but the pink chair adds a nice pop of color.   This is a great spot for her to craft and create.  The natural light from the window brighte

Get The Look: Basement Family Room

I know we all want spaces where we can lounge with the family.  This basement family room is great for that.  There's a large sofa for watching movies and a table area for eating or doing crafts.  I love the pop of color in the accent wall. source sectional : Overstock chandelier : Target tv cabinet : Ikea ottoman : Wayfair wall shelf : Ikea arm chair : Target shelving unit : Ikea dining table : Ikea bench : Ikea pendant : Ikea art : Lamps Plus paint: Benjamin Moore Sea Star   You're reading Get The Look: Basement Family Room by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .

Hello Sunshine + Printable

Image
Since my daughter got a desk I've been thinking of ways I can style it without taking over a space that is supposed to be hers.  Also the cutesy things I see for a desk I know will end up on the floor.   I made a simple printable for her desk and stuck it in an Ikea frame.  I want her desk to be a happy place to sit and be creative and I thought this was the perfect little touch. Here is the printable if anybody is interested.  Just right click and 'save as'.   You're reading Hello Sunshine + Printable by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .

Orb Chandeliers

Image
One light I've really had my eye on is the orb chandelier.  I love the curved lines and simple elegance of them.  Ideally, I would love to put one in our two story foyer. 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 They just look so good in a space! source        source   source     source     source Do you love orb chandeliers as much as I do?   You're reading Orb Chandeliers by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .

Painted Ceilings

Image
After seeing this painted ceiling last week, I was amazed how much drama it gave the room. It got me thinking how I never think about painting the ceiling.  It technically is a wall and can be painted. I like the dark blue in this dining room . I love the added pink to this girl's room . The pale blue ceiling in this sunroom is calm and looks like the sky. I really like the painted ceiling in this bedroom .  They chose to only paint the inset so it's more of an accent than feature. This homeowner really made the ceiling an accent by adding stripes . What are your thoughts on a painted ceiling?  Would you do it?   You're reading Painted Ceilings by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .

New at CB2

Image
CB2 is on of those stores that I like to window shop.  They carry pretty modern home decor and they are just pretty to look at.  Some of their items can be affordable but some of them are more than I would like to spend.  I have a store nearby I can go to but if I'm shopping online they have flat rate shipping for $4.95. How fun is this bed set ?  I like the pops of red in this great burst pattern. I love these hour glasses .  I have been looking for some but none seem to have blue in them. Just recently I've been seeing these tipped light bulbs .  If only I had a cool light fixture to put them in.   Who doesn't need colorful vases?  They can add pops of color throughout a room.   Since pillows are on my radar lately, this subtle lattice caught my eye.   I thought this letter holder was pretty cool.   Is CB2 on your home decor shopping list?   You're reading New at CB2 by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cent

Napkin Pillow Covers

Image
I've been on the search for new pillow covers to refresh the family room.  I showed you some pillows last week and I've saved some on Etsy.  None of them I've pulled the trigger on.  Last week I made a run in Target and came across these clearance napkins.  There are four in a pack and are 20 inches squared.  I knew I could make pillow covers from them.  They were the color I was looking for and the pattern was cool too.  They were also on clearance.     I now like having pillow covers that are removable and can be washed, especially with kids.  I could have made envelope covers but zippers are more my thing now.  With an envelope closure, you can only use one side of the pillow.  A zippered closure allows for use of both sides.  Using this tutorial for zippered pillow covers, I made two new pillow covers for the family room.  Instead of buying new zippers, I took them off old pillow covers I was no longer using.  I've told you about stocking up on feather p
